Coolant Filter Kit on Case IH 685

Has anyone installed a coolant filter kit on a Case IH 685? If so, how should it be plumbed? (The tractor has cab H/A). Would I be better off just changing the antifreeze to a anticavitation type and skip the filter?

Hey Kevin,

When we first got our 1066 my neighbor told me
to get the kit and put it on. The instructions were
great, first job I had done on the tractor, it did have
a cab.

The water filter has a chemical pellet in them to
take care of the system. Hope this helps.

there are alternatives!!!! CaseIH part number B91245 will do the same just by adding it to the coolant.

IT will cost you far less and does the same!

So, when I drain the coolant and fill with new coolant, I should add this (pt# b91245)? Is this something I will have to add annually or check often? How much do you add to the coolant?

Kevin, just like the filter as it's called you should chnge the filter yearly or add the additive.
There are other makes that you might be able to find elsewhere, this is just common and in our parts inventory.

One thing I will add to the additional filter, to install it now and not run the tractor at warm temps for extened periods the additives that are in like a big pellet will actually seal over and not give any protection! We learned the hard way!
