I don't know either, though I've seen references to "Tier 4" in some ads for larger tractors. Glad mine is simple!

You should see the stuff on my 2015 Mercedes Sprinter-based RV! Amazingly complex, totally computer-controlled, about a zillion sensors all over the place, often a source of problems. (I've been fortunate so far, only one issue....where's that darned piece of wood I knock on??) The 3L V6 diesel in that thing will actually shut itself down if there's a problem and it isn't taken care of in a sufficiently timely (according to Mother Benz) manner.

R2D2, here we come.... :(

I went through all the emission related issues beck when I used to drive truck for a living, 9 times out of 10 it was a sensor causing the problems. I still drive truck and operated heavy equipment but I don't own the stuff anymore so if it breaks down I just drop it off at the mechanics shop and let them deal with it.

Yep, only real issue I've had so far has been the two NOx sensors. Between my truck's mfr date (2015) and 2016, there had already been two new iterations of those sensors. Tech replaced my version 3 sensors with two version 5 sensors. So far (8000 miles), it's been OK. Hope it stays that way.

And yeah, that engine has it all: SCR, DPF, Swirl Valve, EGR, DEF, WIF sensor.... all the good stuff! Quite the alphabet.
