Cooler for hydraulic fluid on L3400 w/ back hoe?

Has anyone added a cooler for the hydraulic fluid? If so, easiest place to mount it and what did you use? I am wondering about adding one because when using my back hoe pulling stumps the hoses get pretty hot, too hot to hold for a length of time. I have blown 2 hoses in two days. Could heat be a factor?

A cooler may help, but digging stumps is about the hardest backhoe job there is. Besides ledge.

Very normal for your hydraulics to be too hot to hold. More likely that your hoses are lesser quality than they should be, or they are weather checked causing premature failure. I've never seen a hydraulic oil cooler added to a CUT or SCUT.

I put one on my L2900 GST.
I used the return ( low pressure) line from the steering at the pump and put the cooler in front of the radiator making a couple of brackets to mount it on the radiator frame.
because the cooler is in front of the dust screen, I also made a screen fro it.

Do I really needed it? I already had the cooler and I don't see how cooling the hydraulic can hurt.

Thanks everyone. I am considering adding the cooler to mine.

My guess is weather checking caused the failures. It is a 2004 model.
