It looks like the blade guard is the upper part of a forage/silage chopper spout.
Could you mount a matching curved section to the pivoting shelf to pivot in the same arc as the existing guard?
As the log is pushed into the blade- the guard will pivot riding on the log.
While moving the shelf (where log is riding) back to position the log for the next cut, the
blade guard will rotate back down to cover the blade.
As with any powered piece of equipment be very careful ! ! ! ! !
