I need a good cordless telephone that will work about 300 feet.
That would cover my garage.
I have a line in the garage but if I need to go to the house I have to hang up the cordless phone.
Same thing if I am in the house and need to go to the garage.
My cordless phones only work about 150 feet.
Any suggestions?

is your current phone 2.4 ghz or 5.8ghz, the 5.8 should go farther.

We used to use some "companion" phones in our plant that is about 450ft across. Not sure if that is the brand name or what but that is what was printed on them. Not sure exactly how they worked because they were getting phased out when I started in favor of nextel, but I know there was some sort of "base station" somewhere and each phone had a unique extension. They could not call out if I recall, but could receive calls if transferred to by the front receptionist. They could communicate with each other within the plant as well. I think we have some more lying around, I will take a better look at them and try to get you some more info.

Companion phones are proprietary for Nortel phone systems. While they work great, not viable in the OP's situation. Engenius Durafon is what I'd recommend. Not cheap, but they easily have the range that you need. With the external antenna, they'll go several hundred yards.

We have a Uniden Powermax 5.8GHz setup that has worked for me approximately 1/4 mile (line of sight).

Panasonic KX-TG243B is what we have. Good range and you can transfer calls phone to phone, which is handy if you were "in the shop" on the phone and wanted to go into the house without hanging up.

I have Vtech model cs6429 cordless phones with built in answering machine. They are crystal clear and work fine at 200 feet. I haven't tried any further since I don't have a need to. I believe they are in the 5.8 Ghz range. Owners manual is not specific on range. It will vary depending on conditions, locations, whether I have metal siding etc.

Our Panasonic KX-TG1034 is about four and a half years old and has been good so far, but we're never as far from the base as the OP. I guess my wife has gone in the house next door and it still worked OK. But it's only 1.92 to 1.93 GHz.
