Core and Curve Aerators

I've been waiting for the Agri-Fab 3Pt core aerator to become available at my local Sears - it's currently out of stock:

A quick call to Agri-Fab revealed that they are no longer making these. So the rep referred me to two new products (the commercial, pull type variants):

Core:

Curve Blade:

I have no experience or knowledge of curve blade aerators. They seem to be a compromise between core and spike aerators. Are the curved blade even worth even looking at?

My research is indicating that my best option for a aerator under $500 is one of the AFab pull behinds.. the drum styles all seem to be a bit out of my price range, given that I can't find anything used on CraigsList, EBay. It seems these units, even the non-commercial one (http://www.agri-fab.com/products/45-0298.aspx), would work for aerating a bit under 2 acres.

Are there any options that I'm missing? Any other brands / models that people would recommend?

It depends on your location. I am near Sikston MO. There is an implement dealer called James Equipment. I bought a 60" plug 3 point style. I don't remember the price but it was reasonable. It has many more spools of tines than the AF model on their sight. I just washed it up yesterday after doing 3+ acres.

Goehm The curved blade one appears to be nothing more than a fancy spike aerator.If your looking to lessen compaction it isn't the one you want.A core type is the only one to relieve compaction.I had no idea sears even sold anything like that.

These seem to have a good bang for the buck. They start at $299 for the consumer model and go up from there.

Lowes has a pull type 48" core aerator [best price I can find] that looks like an Agri-Fab, for just $178. Don't see how a 3 point unit could hold up if you left it down while you turned.

Fetched, put together, and used one of them thar 48" Lowes units today, even used my $10 off card I got in the mail the other day. Worked real good.....
