Looks like a soybean plate. As for getting 24 cell plates, go for it. If your planter has a double gear on the press wheel like the one in my posted picture, you can adjust the rate by using either the larger or smaller gear. The Allis planters I had were pretty robust units. Only drawback was lack of parts. The springs used in the refurb were the strongest I could find that would fit the mounts, got them at Race Bros Farm supply. They're just generic springs. HTH Mark
