Corrosion on fuel tank filler neck and chain- 5065e?

Has anyone noticed rust on the retaining chain and around the lower metal rim of the filler neck? The 5065e has a plactic fuel tak but the cap (with metal threads) threads into a metal neck attached to the plastic tank. I have only 40 hours on my tractor and keep the tak more than 60% full and usually within 2 inches of the top. Is the small amount of air in the tank the culprit for the rust?

Can you replace the metal filler neck if it continues? Thanks in advance

Yes, Dealer will replace but I can't haul my machine in to dealer and he will give me parts to do myself. I would like to save the cost of transporting machine 45 miles each way. Looks to me like there are tabs that you bend away from plastic rim and just pull insert out by hand? Maybe pry along edge with screwdriver to get started out? Have you ever repalced one?

I dont know if they sell the part separately or not. I had mine come loose on my 4520 so I know they come out.

Can anyone suggest a coating to put on rusted area below threads of meatal filler neck? Something that will prevent oxidation but is compatible with diesel fuel and vapors? If I repalce the filler neckI am sure he next one will rust as well.
