Cosmo Mixer hydraulic cylinder leak

Hi all,

I picked up a used Cosmo Mixer 80 and the hydraulic cylinder drips near the non-moving end. There appears to be a bit of a seem near that end, but it's a bit difficult to tell with the rust/age. There no obvious way to disassemble the cylinder - both ends are round with no place to put a wrench or any other tool. Is anyone familiar with these things? The cylinder is about $200 to replace - is it possible to repair the cylinder or are the components pressed together and pretty much disposable?

What is the bore and stroke of that cyl?

You should be able to get a cyl that will push/pull for less than $100 or less.

It appears to be a fixed welded end that you have leaking. I would replace the cylinder if that is the case. The rod side end has a threaded nut that you use a single pin spanner or gland nut spanner (two pins) to remove.

wdchyd - It looks pretty much like the one in the ebay listing ishiboo posted, just covered in rust.

Like ishiboo said your base plate welded to the cyl barrel is cracked

It can come apart, machine down and be rewelded, but you'll need a good welder and a seal kit to go back together for the best results

+1. It's probably not cost effective to have it professionally welded and the seal kit replaced when you can have a new one for $130. If you or a buddy have a welder though, you could attempt a temporary fix as it'd cost you about 5 cents in MIG wire, but the first step would be to wire brush it and see where it's leaking from and how bad it looks.
