Cost of Moving (Relocating) a House

Anyone paid to have a house moved? I found a small 1940 house that would work great as a "vacation" home on my property, it is approximately 21' Wide by 38" long and 14' tall at the peak. Distance is about 60 miles from point A to B and is a straight shot by interstate but since I have never seen a house on the intestate I'm guessing they are not allowed, using secondary roads will easily double the mileage. I am going to call a house mover tomorrow but just wondering if anyone has done the deed.

I bet you could almost build a small house for what it will cost to move one. Curious how this will turn out, keep us posted.

I think the distance is going to be a killer on this. I've seen lots of houses moved but always less than 5 miles. In addition to closing roads, utility lines have to be raised, etc. All these things cost money.

I don't know what it is like down south, up here, no houses on the interstate. Hard to believe but 4 of my family live in moved houses. Companies have told us that it is the pick up and set down that is the cost, mileage was $4 a mile in 2000. UNLESS over height. Then it gets expensive fast but I don't see 14' being an issue. 26x44 ranch house with a 28x28 attached garage was $9000 aprox 130 miles.
