I am new to tractors. Warranty work does not include pickup and delivery of tractor. Do folks get charged by the mile? Size of tractors? Is there a ball park $$$$$$$$

DOC_BOB, I was quoted $150 to transport mine it is a M9000 Kubota 90hp, so a good sized utility tractor. The dealer is 16 miles away and I can make the drive one way on the tractor in just under 2 hours. I'm don't make $40 an hour so I make the drive it cost me a little wear and tear and about a gallon of fuel since its under a light load when I travel the interstate.

If I remember correctly, my dealer quoted me $1.25 per loaded mile to pick up my tractor for the 50 hour service. I'm about 25 miles from the dealer and he said it'd be about $60 ($30 each way) to pick it up and deliver it back. This was about a month ago when I started budgeting for my 50 hour service. I still haven't had it done (meter's at ~42 hours), so I can't tell you what I paid, just what I was quoted.

Hope this helps,

Can't say that I've ever seen a tractor rolling down the interstate. I certainly wouldn't want to be on the interstate on my tractor (doing about 15 MPH) with big trucks coming by doing 70+ MPH!

Huh. I'm surprised that everyone seems to accept that paying the transport for warranty work is normal. Is this really the case in the US?

My John Deere dealer (in Quebec) is 40 miles away. One of the things the service manager pointed out at delivery time is that the dealer picks up and delivers the tractor for all warranty work at no charge to me.

My JD dealer (IL) does free pick up and delivery for warrenty work. They are 25 or 30 miles away.

I actually did have a warrenty problem (PTO lever was very hard to move) and they just sent a truck and fixed it right at my house right quick.

Probably would have tried to borrow a friends trailer if it had to get it there. However, had a problem with the BH subframe that was covered under warranty including the transport so I had him do the 50 hour while it was there (only 40 hours on my MF1540)

I have thought about taking the Interstate /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif, but I only drive at night, and with all the bugs coming out, I have not had time to install the windshield!

From reading the Kubota warranty, they make a point of stating that they do not pay for pickup and delivery for warranty work.

PS I have not purchased a tractor yet.

My Kubota L4400 had a hydraulic leak around the rear remote where it attached to the tranny. I called the dealer and they did not have a field service unit at all and did not pay for pick up for warranty work. And my tractor lives about 50 miles from the dealer. It was going to cost over $150 for them to do it. I borrowed a trailer to get it there but then had to rent one to pick it up. That cost $75. Add the cost of gas in a guzzling pick-up and I'd say I spent around $100 due to an installation mistake by the dealer.

However, when I bought the tractor they waived the delivery fee and as mentioned, I was three counties away. They are a good dealership and at this point I'd say we were even.

I did my 50 hour service myself.
