Cost of replacing Septic tank pump.. - HELP NEEDED ASAP

Union plumbers around here also have a Maint Electrician License so a lot of that cost would go away

I am retired from Local 26 (Pipefitter) and worked out of Local 290 in Oregon prior to transferring. Both locals have the training classes and encourage it. The apprentices get theirs by the time they graduate. Same for Refrig techs. Of course that license is only good on service jobs not new installs. In Oregon plumbers have to have the limited Boiler license to do large hot water heaters that come under the boiler code.

Depends on how much horsepower the pump has to have to be able to lift to the leachfield. I was at a job today that needed a 1100 dollar pump ,it lifts over ten feet and leachfiled is over two hundred feet away. The pump chamber and leachfield should be vented to help pump push any air before the liquid. Rewiring pump could be another expense. plowking

this is probably the biggest differential - they are pushing the waste water a similar distance with a similar rise..

I hadnt thought of that..

Sorta off topic - but similar..

if her front yard (where the drain field is located) is higher at the road than closer to the house, probably close to a 10' difference - would all the waste water be pushed to the very top of the yard so it would drain down hill and through all the lines or would the pump push water into the lines as it came to each line going up hill?

had to do mine last fall
$650 for the pump
$220 for the pump out of septic and holding tank
$520 labor that included rewiring some not so to code wire
seems high until you need it
only time I ever heard my wife say just get it done I don't care what it costs

its a done deal - as previously mentioned you really dont have much choice when it comes to the septic not working..

She paid $350 for the pump out and $1,175 for the pump (she saw the pump online for $650) and installation.. total was $1525


She is considering turning this into her insurance company - she has a $1,000 ded.. Anyone know what they would cover, ASSUMING it was lightning damage? I dont see them paying the pump out because that could be 'normal maintenance'

I wouldn't get the insurance involved
for the couple hundred she would get now her rates would go up from having a claim or if she tried changing insurance co and they see she had a claim they would frown on that

Mine were $600 each...and have two. Not much fun going down in the tank either

My leech field is designed to work under pressure and under flow it is distributed thruout the entire line the pipe ends are capped...after the pump float switch shuts off what is left in the delivery piping drains back into the tank thru a custom drilled weep hole located just after the pump. It is reversed pitched that way.
