I agree, that was a good price. Lots of good advice for marking them so you can find them. Just off set your posts a few inches, it really hard to find a rebar next to a fence post sometimes. They make fiberglass poles and such that would be better from a surveyors point of view.

An ALTA survey is usually just done on commercial property and would probably have cost 10 to 20 times as much.

I bought 8 acres next to mine and just to have the corners marked it cost over $10,000. The property is 5000' X 71'.

Ouch. Was there some challenges in the survey, or is that the going rate where you live?
