coughing for 19 days after bush hogging

I am going to start wearing a dust mask after bush hogging, I have bush hogged for years with no problems UNTIL NOW!!!
In May I bushhogged for a couple of hours and 36 hours later started coughing and did not stop for 10 days. I just took over the counter cough suppressant,

This past Saturday I bush hogged for about 2 hours and now 36 hours later I started coughing (continuous hack) I fear the cough will last 10 days this time to
I read that folks with hayfever start coughing right away during the grass mowing process BUT my cough seems delayed for 24-36 hours? I have never had any hay fever or allergy problems.

My lungs feel heavy. Could my lungs be full of grass clippings?
Does anyone else have a 24-36 hour delay cough after cutting grass that last 10 days?

I would recommend a visit to your family doctor. Coughing for ten days is not good. I mow my one acre meadow. I ONLY mow it when it's green. So there is not a tremendous amount of dust. However - it's an immediate shower right after I'm finished. Otherwise I'm stuffed up for a day or so. No coughing though. I have never worn any type of dust mask.

Have learned that wearing a mask helps for me. Not needed all the time but there is not much of a way to tell in advance Sneezing, coughing, etc. usually start happening for me the next morning, but only last a day or two. Seldom bothers me while brush hogging.

I would see your family doctor and get a chest x-ray to see what is going on.

I haven't had the problem with coughing after brush hogging, but I'm also sitting inside an air conditioned cab.

I coughed for a month and a half before i went to Dr and found i had pneumonia. Its been a month now. I now wear a mask mowing with ZT, and am using cab tractor on my field.

The older I get the more safety concious I've become. When it's dry and dusty I wear a mask, goggles, cap with neck flap, and hearing protection.

You may have gotten into a patch of poison ivy or poison oak and stirred up some of the oils in the plants. Even the dead ones are dangerous. Worst case is burning the stuff and inhaling the fumes.

This happened to me a couple of times and went to the emergency room both times but I did not know why-was just diagnosed with acute bronchitis. Then I saw my neighbor mow his lawn with a mask on (he has to wear oxygen) and then it hit me...both times it started happening right after mowing my lawn or picking up leaves.

I always wear a dust mask now cause man bronchitis sux....had not had it since except when I went to Brazil in October 2017....and I remember not wearing the mask when I used compressed air to clean off the mower before putting it away for the winter Messed up the first week of my trip.

No fever and generally my allergies are tolerable without meds...

Not sure where you are at but Valley Fever would act like that. Unfortunately their isn’t a direct cure. But an MD can minimize damage with proper treatment.

Just another possibility that could aggravate the problem. If you are taking Lisinopril for blood pressure one of the side effects is coughing. My wife had to stop taking it.
