OK, looking at Chains, and someone said why not get more aggressive tread pattern.. This is way out of the box thinking but this tire comes in PT size (at least on paper)

My tires are 26x12x12.

I just wonder though if having the chains is better than mud and snow offroad tires.

Theyre an awesome tire on a ATV, (friends have them, i run bearclaws) but i wonder if the sidewall could take the strain when using the loader, not to mention the weight of the machine itself

Without a doubt my Polaris Sportsman ATV will go places few other beasts could ever go. I attribute a lot of this to the ATV tires. But at 5 PSI inflation i doubt you could put much load on them.

495 lb max load rating on that size. You are at the max capacity with 8 tires with no attachments. I can't think they'd last long in that situation.

Bite the bullet and go for the chains. I did this year. You won't be disappointed. The traction they add in mud is remarkable. Their only drawback is that they can churn up some serious ground. I am still waiting for some snow to try them out on.

Even tractors with aggressive ag tires need chains. If you run duals, you might try putting the chains on the outside tire and keep the cross chains loose. That way, they will be somewhat self cleaning. I did that on my cuts when running in the mud. With singles on the PT, you have to worry about clearance and so in that sitation, i make the chains tight.

Hey Ken. I was looking at that Diamond pattern chain. What do you think of them? Everyone on my side of the coast says to go with the every 2 straight across.... Wanted to get your insight....

For ice, i find the studded diamond pattern to be better. For mud, double loop logging chains work well but they give you a much rougher ride. I think you would have to customize those to work on duals - basically almost make your own. If i was just the pt in the summer, i would go with cheap atv chains.

It may depend on the plies, as that determines the tire pressure. They do look aggressive.
