Tractor
looking
Hi,

On the way home from work today, I saw a nice looking little old tractor with a sign that said: Ford NAA, Fresh rebuild, new clutch, rings, bearings, xtra hyd pump. Has 3 point hitch, and bucket for $4000.00. OBO

I need a tractor to move round bales and have been told in the past this type of tractor would not be good because it would be too hard for me to steer...

Can it be "updated" with power steering, and could this tractor pick up round bales, ranging 800-1000 lbs?

ps. I don't know anything about mechanics...it sure wouldn't be me doing the work.

How about putting the round bale spear on the 3 point, you would have instant power steering ?

it would pick them up but would cost a fortune to put ps on and 4000 is about 2000 dollars to high now matter what has been done to the tractor u can get a good 3000 ford of 820 johndeere diesel with ps for that much

Depends on the weight of the bales. The NAA likes about 800#'s or less on the 3 pt hitch. Mine will pick 800#'s and the front wheels are starting to float.
Be sure to check out the NAA real thorough as some parts are hard to come by. With all that has been done, it might be a good investment that will last for years. I know they are collectible and a very versatile machine. I really like mine. Dave

Hi Snowa and :welcome: to TBN. I'm not going to state an opinion here because I have already done it in my PMs to you. I'll just add that I would listen very closely to what folks are saying here about the NAA and it's capabilities. Take all responses as a whole and weigh what the majority say. You'll not go wrong. Don't be afraid to give full details of the tractor and your plans. This will best help people give you the best advice. Everyone here was once new to tractors. Don't be afraid or embarrassed to make a mistake. Folks here want to help you, not make fun of you.

I wouldn't try it with the front end loader.
The NAA isn't very heavy.

It will do a fair job moving them with the 3PH
