Massey Ferguson 1758
Fellas, I could use your insight on a matter I'm dealing with. After months of reading here and some seat time, I decided after the house is built I'm buying a mf 1749 or 1754 hydro. My issue is that I'm 6' 8" and could use just a tad more room for the foot pedals. Being that the 17xx are suspended pedals, is it possible to cut and reweld them out an inch or two? Or maybe jimmie the seat back just before it comes in contact with the back?

Looking at the specs and dealers that isn't 100 miles away, Massey Ferguson and Kioti were the only 2 that came close to my needs with MF taking the lead. I feel the fit and finish is above many others but just a tad short. Sure I could make it work but I got a lot of clean up to do in the woods and would like to be more comfortable. I haven't sat on a 16xx series but I bet with the pedals coming thru the floor would be great for me. Maybe I'll get lucky a find a 1648 with low hrs when the time come.

Hi. Welcome.
Anything is possible on TBN.
I am not familiar with your tractor. Could shortening the peddle be an option to give you more room?

Pedals come straight down from the bottom right of the dash and are about 5" off the floor. Shortening them would probably make things worse. I'm thinking I could cut the two levers just south of the dash, weld in a 2" piece going to the front then the rest of the lever welded to it. Thus making it 2" or more room for my skis. I don't own one yet. Just wanting to know if there'll be room to do so for those who do have a 17xx.

Ok. Good luck with the project.
Lot of good smart Massey owners here.

I own a massey gc1715 and before my purchase I noted the seat slide stop could be reversed with no negative issues or changes needed . . . But it added nearly 3 more inches of leg room.

Now I don't know your machine . . . but that would be a thought to check on.

But here is another. . . No cutting and rewelding involved. Make a pedal overlay for each pedal that extends forward as space allows.. Make it so it slips over and/or around the pedal pad and set screw or whatever fastener to keep it there. That way it alters the geometry to help you . . But if someone else is going to use the tractor OR BUY it . . its easy to take them off and its "normal" for them.

Too many times cutting and altering on a permanent basis is not needed. There are a dozen or more different overlay designs that could be done depending on your space and clearances available and it would be safe AND NOT EFFECT warranty.
