Hi,
My name is John, I live in NC. I am thinking about buying a compact tractor with a FEL. I'd use it primairly with a box blade to do landscaping planting projects around the wodded 2 acres I have here. I now have two JD318, only one running, it has a 3 pt and I have a 4 foot box blade. The 318 that runs seems to have a lot of little problems come up like is common for old things. It also doesn't do well with the box blade, not enough traction or front end weight. I've been looking at the JD models that have the drive on decks but haven't really figured out the difference in them and what is important to me. I have some very steep slopes. Any suggestions on models or featrues I should be condsidering would be appreciated. I am also interested in the best ways to contour and plant areas. Currently I've been using the box blase the best I can and then using a tiller to loosen the soil then I roll it to firm it. Getting it level after that and ready to plant sead is what I could use help with.
