County-wide garage sale

This Saturday, Sept 14th, my county is having a county-wide garage sale. The local Wise County Messenger newspaper placed a full-page ad about the sale with maps of the city of Decatur, TX where there are lots of sales and also a county map showing locations of other sales in smaller towns. They also published paid garage sale classified ads on the same page as the map with keys to the map locations.

This seems to be a great service by the newspaper. Nobody would be able to make all the sales, but the garage sale-aholics will have a field day with this event. If the have it next year, I just might participate with my own sale. Living in a remote area, an ad may not bring many buyers, but with this full-page ad and maps, it should help everyone who is a buyer or seller to make the best sales. I really like this idea.:thumbsup:

I thought where I lived was fairly remote but your location gives an all new meaning to isolation. Hope you can make many of the sale locations Saturday. The entire idea sounds like a great deal. Oosik

I passed probably the biggest "yard sale" in the state coming to East Texas, Canton TX :laughing:

Dennis, the county always needs money, but I suspect they won't make a nickel from this since it is all private sales and NOBODY is gonna collect sales tax. I just think it's a neat idea and the newspaper is providing a good service. I hope they do this every year because next year I want to sell some ju.. uh. . . prized posessions.:laughing:
