CRAFTSMAN DLT3000 18.5 HP BRIGGS ENGINE

HI I HAVE A CRAFTSMAN DLT 3000 WITH A 18.5 BRIGGS ENGINE WHEN I TRY TO START IT IT TURNS OVER BUT ALL IT DOES IS BACKFIRES ANY IDEAS WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS ???

Multiple cases can cause backfiring. From fuel quality, to flywheel key sheared, to faulty spark plug. How about getting the model, type , and code off of the engine so we can see which of the 1000 variations of engine you have.

Adjust the valves while you're at it. It's not hard.

I've torn into a good number of these BS 18.5 in Craftsman mowers. Not hard to work on at all.
