Craftsman LT-1000 16 horse charging system

Can anyone tell me what color, or which wires run the charging system for this. The mower runs and starts as long as ive got jumpers connected(no battery atm) soon as i disconnect it dies. Any ideas whatsoever? Thanks!

the voltage regulator requires 12 volts input from the battery to operate. when you remove the jumper cables the voltage regulator closes and then you lose power to the anti afterfire solenoid which shuts off the fuel and the engine dies. you are lucky it is not a fuel injected kohler because it will blow the computer when you disconnect the cables because of a voltage surge.

Where exactly is the voltage reg located and what does it look like.. Thanks!!

Should be bolted to the engine somewhere, with a couple wires coming from it....maybe yellow.
