I have been looking around for a new chainsaw because my old one is about worn out. I was looking for something about 60cc. I liked the Echo CS600P and the best price I had been able to find one for was $580.

One dealer had told me that the CS590 was the same engine with a plastic handle, laminated bar & a different
drive sprocket. He had this one on sale for $399.

I was about to buy the CS590 when I found a CS600P new in the box on craigslist about an hour away. I called & the guy still had it & was asking $450 for it but said he would take $420.

I got the serial number of the saw & had the dealer run it to be sure it wasn't stolen. It came back as new & unregistered so I went yesterday afternoon & picked it up. Came with a 20" bar.

This is first time I have bought anything on Craigslist. I occasionally look through the farm ads but most of what I find is way overpriced or junk.

Nice score. CL is amazing, it seems no matter what I am needing, if I search long enough, I will find a "deal".

STIHL 088 (~1998) + 36" bar + Alaskan Sawmill - $450 (Oakton, Va)

This is a STIHL 088 chainsaw (8.9 HP!, cost $1200 new), runs great. I used it for milling logs into boards (not professional load, but heavy usage when used) using an Alaskan Sawmill (an attachment that clamps on the bar, ~$200 new.)
Engine just serviced - runs great. Comes with chains and custom boxes (2) I built to hold engine and sawmill attachment and accessories. 36" bar and sawmill attachment allows 29" wide cut through logs. Otherwise if you don't want sawmill attachment, engine is not modified so it works as purchased.

Price is FIRM minimum. If multiple offers, buyers allowed to "bid" higher. STIHL 088 (~1998) + 36" bar + Alaskan Sawmill - $450 (Oakton, Va)

about 10pm.

I was the third buyer, the first two ended up turning it down.

Have only really used it twice for small stuff but it PURRS.

The seller had only used it to cut up about 4 trees.

CL can be great.

Two good scores!! I buy a lot of stuff off of Craigslist. Just be wary and don't be afraid to drive away if something is not right.

That's a really good price on a saw that size. It would be nice to have a saw like that for the occasional big tree. I have cut a couple that were about 46-48” on the stump & it sucks to have to try to cut one that size when the bar won't even reach halfway across the stump.

Nice score, you'll love that saw. Everything 2 stroke that I own is Echo and never a hiccup out of any one of them.

How is that 088 to run? And start? My top saw is now a MS441 and I have had 066s, but never an 088.
