I think you could hook a 6013 up to an electric fence charger and it would run nice. QUOTE]

Don't know about that 6013 on a fence charger, but I'd say you want to be real careful trying it. I was trying to rejeuvinate a tractor battery hooking it to my electric fence charger a while back, weedburner model, and had th e battery sitting there on a board on the ground. Dangest thing, the neighbor's German shepard Spott wandered by making his daily rounds and I think he got bit by that charger cause he took off like a rocket yippin like I never before heard him. That dog still ain't been back within 20 feet of where that battery was sitting.

No I don't think I'll be trying them 6013 rods on the fence charger thank yo very much, but I sure would like a welding machine of my own so I could practice more. I have got quite good at welding up them porcupines practicing some, but that really ain't welding.

When I bought my latest mig welder it has DC stick out capabilities as well and I couldn't get rid of my AC stick welder fast enough STICK welder was the operative word for that beast, I spent half the time sticking to the work, if it wasn't something heavy and high juice, all it would do is stick and drive me insane. The dc stick welder is a whole different world, all the sudden I don';t feel retarded with that thing . It works and flows like it should. My old ac welder would only behave on something 3/8" or thicker where it could really sink it's teeth in. Small rods forget it, might as well clamp a q tip in there :confused2: Granted, it was a cheap piece of junk, I used to have a Lincoln AC unit years ago that worked a lot nicer, but still was nothing like a DC unit.

If you shop at a local farm store you may be able to buy electrodes by the piece or the lb. instead of having to buy big packagesbut it is nice to get the packages once in a while for the waterproofe containers so you don't have to buy them

No doubt! I've been having a BALL with the Dayton welder on DC - I'm trying to come up with all sorts of excuses to weld stuff. I finished up making some new running gear for the Marquette welder before I give it back to my coworker. I was welding some 3/4" ID washers to the end of some .095 wall tube and then welding that to some .25" thick angle iron using 3/32" 6011 rod at 60~70 amps. Darn near easy as MIG! Once the rod is hot, I just need to get it near the work and she lights up!
