Have an 8 acre pond as part of my front yard. 6 years ago when I moved here, crawdad mounds common around pond. Over the years seems they have spread. Run over them with UTV or mow them down results in spots like you see in the picture. Plus, an unevenness in the yard.

The crawdads are good for the bass in the pond, but bad for the yard. Anyone with suggestions how I can improve the looks of the yard given these crawdads?

Not sure how to get rid of them, but my back yard gets covered with those mounds  They are quite entertaining when the dog finds one :D

They are fine eating. Boil them in salted water, break the heads off and peel the tails. There are some great spice mixes out there too. My kids used to trap them in the Elliot Way waterway in Seattle and get 25# in a couple hours. The southerners on here should have lots of good stories.

Drain the pond and fill it in. Or enjoy the mudbugs.

You need some these
Frabill Vinyl-Coated Crawfish Trap : Cabela's

Then just boil them up in a turkey fryer. The trick is that you want to make the water you boil them in WAY spicier than you think you need. I am talking take what you think would make them too hot to eat and then quadruple it. Then pour in a carton of salt, so it tastes like sea water... Those crawfish are hermetically sealed and it's tough to get any spice in them. You drop them in alive and they gasp in a bit of that salty spiced water and that may be all that's getting in there!

You get more enjoyment out of cooking them than eating them, sounds like. Snowflakes couldn't get thru your post.

I've never been much of a fan of them, but I sure do have a bunch.

They all taste good, no matter if from my creek or a dump pond next to a truckstop in Iowa.
