So for some of you old timers, a blog = web-log
i a journal thats online.
There are various services that help you do this. With the new property we (with wife and i) finally have a reason to keep one.
You may already know i post most weekend-update pics over on our website under property pics (find the link in the photos forum) but you often miss the back story behind photos.
Some use the forums as there blog... (you know who you are <cough Eddie and his lake cough>)
Over the past few days ive finnally gotten around to setting one up.
Im useing Blogger.com.
You have to create a google account (or when you sign up for blogger it creates one for you
)
(hears were ill loose some people)
As i already have a website that i own and pay to host, i decided to have blogger post the blog to MY website. So i gave it my FTP info and after i create blog entries (on blogger.com) it "publishes" the actual HTML document to my website. (you can specify specific location and file names... in my case you can find it hear

Adding pics to your blog are more tricky. Theres good help on the blogger site to walk you through it. IN my case sence im already hosting all my own pics, i simply just link to them. This requires a bit of special html codeing on our end when we create blog entries but with cut and paste its really no big deal.
When you set up an account you will need to choose a template, which is (like it says) the template for how your blog will be layed out. (ie you simply type up posts like email and say publish... the site then does all the hard work to code the HTML for you to make it look purty)
You can choose a default template and stay with it, although and i have already started to tweek mine as i perfer my stuff to have "my touch". So while it may LOOK mostly like the template, it is lacking (or includes) specific tweeks that "personalize" it just enough for me.
There are many features that im choosing not to use at this time, (such as comments) and such....
But its a work in progress just getting up to speed on it all.
