For some reason I've noticed a LOT ot crickets while weeding these last few days... has anybody else found this, or is it local? They leave my plants alone,so don't bother me like the Japanese Beetles do... this year is the first time I've seen the latter north of Banger... 90 miles away.

The stripe on the "Wooly Bear" caterpillar supposedly indicates the severity of the winter... small stripe =mild winter, longer stripe = harsher winter, as popular lore goes.
The caterpillars I'm seeing are all stripe... does this mean another ice age is coming? ;-)

I hope you can have some fun with my observations. :D

Yep, starting the 21st of this coming month the ice age will start again for another 9 months

We had a real bad year for Japanese beetles. I started using some traps and caught quite a few. They seem to have gone quiet now and we only see a few here and there.

Lots of grasshoppers this year. There might be crickets under the weeds in garden, but I've fallen behind on the weed pulling. :)
