Two Power-Trac 1850s (preferred for mowing and grapple-bucket clearing type work on really steep hills). Kubota M680 for snowblowing, grading, bucket.
Anybody else run into this? I've managed to cross-thread *both* the fuel cap and the hydraulic fluid cap on the 1850. These are both basically the same cap, a plastic threaded affair made out of nice soft plastic that's easy to screw on crooked. And once you do that a couple times, you're toast.

When I ordered the new ones from Terry, he said "gee Mike, you're the first time I've ever heard of that." I'm thinking, no way man. The plastic's so soft and the threads are so narrow, other people have to have done this.

So this is just an informal poll to see if anybody else has done this to their caps.

and... yeah Dad, I'll be more careful the next time. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

On my 1845, neither is a threaded cap. Maybe you're the first with that system and that's why no one else has has a cross-thread problem. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The hydro cap on my 422 came cross threaded from the factory, luckly my wife noticed it wasn't on right so i put it on straight and am real careful threading it on. I've seen similar soft plastic caps on other gear get cross threaded too.

On our 2001 model PT425 the caps aren't threaded, either. But then again, they seem to allow leakage, so who knows what's better. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The hydraulic cap is threaded on my 425 purchased early May and I've noticed its difficult to get it started correctly, I'm being very careful with it. The gas tank is not threaded.

Same here with my 425 that I purchased at the end of last year. I have to be very careful as the plastic is pretty soft.

My fuel cap looks more like a radiator cap and works perfectly.

I am having a problem with hydraulic oil leaking out of the tank. I think the seal on the top plate is shot but also suspect oil leakiing out of the cap area.
I remember a thread about this issue but do not remember who or what type of machine.

<font color="red"> Sounds like a case, or at least a 6-pack, of 'Operator Error'!! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

You must be careful when screwing on that you don't screw up! But, if you did screw it up, wouldn't you actually be screwing off? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Personally, I have never had trouble screwing up, or screwing off!! But, of course, I'm naturally gifted those ways!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Add me to the list with cross threaded hydraulic caps. I cleaned up the threads with a thread file, and now I'm very careful installing it.

My 422 12/2004, came with hydraulic cap cross threaded or I messed it up first time on... nothing leaks so it doesn't bother me..yet.. gas cap is the radiator type so no possiblity of cross threading there unless I really go crazy
