This is my first post, but I've been reading/lurking for some time now. I know there's a wealth of knowledge here so here goes.

I've got a new Kubota M7040 with the ultragrand cab. I've decided to go ahead and hardwire the unit instead of ordering the wire harness. I went ahead and disconnected the battery, hopped up in the cab and cut off the female end of the connector. I separated all the wires then started stripping wires to figure out what's what. I grabbed my tester then hooked the battery back up and jumped into the cab. I clipped my tester to the ground then found the hot wire, then turned the key and found the accessory wire. When I reached back to turn off the key I bumped the tester wire and the ground wire came into contact with hot wire. I didn't see a spark but the two were stuck together. I pulled them apart then brought the tester back up and the hot wire was dead. The tractor still turns over, and the accessory wire still gets power. I checked the fuses under the steering wheel and they were all intact.

Any insight into what I may have fried and where to find it?

How did you check the fuses? visually or by the ohm meter?

Visually, didn't have a meter with me.

Well I am not saying anything but, If I were you I would check them with an Ohm meter, I have seen fuses that don't look blown and they are. Another way is to check for voltage on both sides of the fuse. If you have voltage on one side and not the other..... There is a tiny spot you can get a probe on the top of each fuse on each side of the element. This can be quicker than pulling each one and testing for continuity. Most of the fusible links in a tractor are large, and usually deal with starting circuits, so I doubt you have blown any of them.. You could have possibly melted open a wire, but I am having trouble believing the manufacture put in a circuit without a fuse. sooo.. what I am saying is you have a blown fuse.

There may be more than one fuse location? I wish I had a wiring diagram to help you with, and I assume you don't have one either. Perhaps if we keep bumping this post up someone will come along with one.

Nope, I don't have one either. The tractor only has 17 hours so this is a new tractor to me, haven't had to work on it much.

There are fuses under the hood too.

Got it taken care of. It was a fuse that blew, it took the multimeter to find which one though. Thanks for the help guys.
