The cruise control on my 4300 doesn't seem to be working correctly. In the owners manual, it says to push on the button to engage, and to disengage either push the button down or push on the brake. On mine there are three positions on the cruise button. Off is when the button is pushed in at the bottom. There is a middle position that does not engage the cruise and a top position which engages the cruise. When the button is in the top position, the cruise control woks and the light is on, but will not disengage when the brake is applied. If after engaging the cruise by pushing the rocker button on the top and the pushing the button to reposition it to the middle position, the cruise light stays on, the cruise contol woks and the cruise can be disengaged by using the brake or by pushing the button on the bottom. I'm wondering if the cruise control (rocker type) button is supposed to be spring loaded at the top position so as to make the button go to the middle position after on the tp and then releasing it. Can anyone with a jd hst tell me if this is correct or not. It seems to be very dangerous the way it is if some one that didn't know about the middle position drove the tractor and used the cruise contol.
