I was bush hogging today and using the cruise control function on my TC35DA hst. I came upon a spot where I wanted to go a little slower and was wondering if I could just tap one of the pedals to get out of cruise(like on a car). It didnt work but I wanted to know if it is supposed to work that way? If I turn it off with the button or hit the brake there is a sudden change in speed. Is there a smooth way to get out of cruise?

Thanks,
Chris

I asked the same question when I got my TC40DA. The answer was no, because of the basic design of the cursie control system. I still get whiplash now and then. I've tried to learn to put my foot on the pedal before I hit the switch or brake and ease the speed change.

None of my road vehicles have cursie controls that disengage when you hit the accelerator, but that doesn't stop me from thinking it would handy on the tractor. However, I've found my self driving my cars more like my tractor. When I start to exit off the highway when I've been running on cruise, I put my foot on the pedal and turn the curise off.

Chris, your question was answered twice by Barry; once directly and once indirectly. He said to put your foot on the HST pedal before disengaging the cruise control. He also mentioned his automobile and how the accelerator does not disengage cruise (you can increase it only, but that doesn't turn off cruise). Your tractor's fuel lever also will not have any effect on cruise. You can reach up and raise or lower engine rpm slightly for small speed variations. The 540 rpm light might extinguish, but I've found the cut doesn't really deteriorate much until I go under 2000 rpm.

If you press hard enough on the HST pedals, you can also change the speed, but I find it much easier to feather the fuel lever than to mess with the pedals.

Your brake pedals are designed so you can do differential braking while using cruise. Cruise will be turned off only if you press both brake pedals. I love this feature because it can help hold the tractor straight while on an incline.

...and yes. I still forget sometimes and disengage cruise in "whiplash" mode. I may try to hit one brake pedal and accidently brush the other one, or if I hit a good bump, sometimes that is enough to jar the brake pedals and cause cruise to suddenly disengage.
