Does anyone use their cruise control while mowing? I have tried mine a couple of times. It seems to disengage on it's own. Kinda seems like a joke a feature that isn't really necessary but looks good in the brochures!:D

Honestly, tried it a number of times, but just don't see the point. My yard is nearly 2 acres in size, but in four sections of different sizes, one of which is 1.25 acres.

Even on the largest piece, where I can mow length wise for a long distance, the cruise doesn't make sense to me. I never mow the same direction twice, and never in a circle, so the distances are not long enough to require cruise.

Even when I tried, the cruise, while not canceling itself always set at a lower speed than what I set it at....hmmmm

I use mine quite a bit. I've never had it disengage on it's own, but it does set a little lower than the current ground speed.

There seems to be a minimum speed for the cruise to really lock in. If you hold the cruise lever down and then slowly accelerate, you'll feel a "click" and the ground speed will be maintained.

If you try and engage the cruise at anything lower than that minimum ground speed, you'll lose additional speed when you take your foot of the pedal.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info! I guess I never really thought I had to go a certain speed for the cruise to engage. I'll try it when I mow again. If it ever stops raining!!!!

You are absolutely right about holding the cruise lever down and accelerating. I tried that today and it worked. I was mistaken about it disengaging on its own. I just didn't have it locked in properly.
Thank for the info!!!!

I tried this with mine and didn't really feel any "clicks." It still loses a little speed too but it stays locked just fine.

What I wish it had was a "sticky" setting like a real cruise so it would go back to where you set it after disengaging it. Think I'm asking too much of a simple mechanical thing? :D

IMO, the "sweet spot" is much too fast to make the cruise worthwhile, except when making a second pass or only cutting 1" or so of the grass blades.

I do think this particular set up is by design because the 1046 I had before the 2544 operated the same way.

Try it again, but go a little faster than you normally would. Now I'm intrigued!

I have had better luck with mine now. The problem I have now is what to do with my foot!!!!! LOL
