I have a 2002 TC33D w/ hydro transmission. My problem is the cruise is not working. The switch on the dash does not light when pushed forward. I did a search here and found that there is a switch at the brake pedal. I loosened the switch and slid it all the way to the front of the tractor. At that point the brake pedal does not make any contact with the switch but the cruise still does not work. Is there something else to check? All fuses are good. All lights are working. Thanks in advance.

Hi Ajones,

My wiring diagram for a T2220 shows a relay
and a Diode in the wiring, on mine the Aux
power is also on this. I would check if you have
power at the switch, and the Aux outlet, also
check the fuze with a multi-meter just to make
sure you have power. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure how the switch works on the TC33D, but on the TC35/40/45D models, the switch must be depressed/closed for cruise to operate. By moving the switch, I think you have just permanently disabled the cruise control. You should probably move the switch to a position where the pedal just closes the switch when you release the pedals. That way, when you just begin to depress the brake pedal, the switch will open and disable the cruise.

Now, I can't be completely sure because I don't have TC33D diagrams, so I'm just describing how the Class III tractors work. You need to know for sure how this circuit works before beginning to troubleshoot it.

As Thumper mentioned, there is a relay and diode in the circuit. The relay is energized by the cruise switch. Once energized, power from the contacts loops back through the diode and holds the relay energized. Stepping on the brake pedal or depressing the cruise switch to OFF will interrupt the relay's coil power and turn cruise off. I believe that's how Case/New Holland's system works for both the Class II and Class III Boomers.

Your insight once again is correct Jim, the switch is closed to allow the cruise to operate. Braking opens the circuit and releases the maganet.

I think I would start with the toggle switch or relay. When my cruise was not working due to misalignment of the brake switch, the toggle still indicated the circuit was working. Beyond that, I didn't follow the rest of the circuit through the relay to the magnet.

So the switch should be pushed in against the brake pedal then? I will check into it more once the temps get out of the teens. Probably this weekend.

OK. I found the problem and it was all my doing. Turns out while trying to correctly wire my power window motor / snowblower chute rotator to the rear plug I blew the fuse and did not replace it.:( I learned from the dealer that the aux. plug and the cruise are on the same circuit. I replaced the fuse and everything is working great now. I also goth the wiring correct for the switch and now have a power chute rotator on the rear snowblower. :D Now all I need is some snow!! Thanks again for your help.
