I need crusher run for the driveway to my cabin. I was quoted $425 per load, 18-19 tons, delivered. That sounds high to me but it has been a long time since I bought any. Last time I needed three of those tri-axle dump trucks. Is that price about right? They say it is clean gravel, no metal bits like you get with ground up concrete.

Sounds about right for up here in Canuckistan. Sounds high for in the US, though.

I can't remember what a 15-16 ton load cost me but I do remember that hourly rate on the truck was $75. Prior to the $75 charge, it was $50 a hour. The difference in price was due to the much higher price of fuel. I think fuel was up around $4.00 per gallon when I last bought ABC.

The quarry is pretty close to me so they could deliver a load every 30-45 minutes depending on the wait time at the quarry. I looked up our quarry but they don't have prices online.

How close is the quarry to you and what do they charge per ton? With that information you should be able to tell if the price is good or bad.

$425 per load seems high to me but I have not checked the quarry price in 5ish years or so. The travel time could also increase the price.

Later,
Dan

I had 200T delivered and spread on a road a few weeks ago. 8 loads at $14.5/T. Included delivery was around $100/load to my place, approximately 20miles from the quarry. Average load was $350 each. Total for 200T spread on 1/4m drive was right at $2800

Had 2 trucks working on it from first light. Finished around 2pm with an hour for lunch.

The last stone I had hauled was #57's and it was $550 a load. This was 3 or 4 years ago. The quarry is about 4 miles from the house. At that time crush run was running around $350. He hauled the same amount you were quoted. Seems to be in line with prices around here. I don't know close to a quarry you are.

Well, I called my B-I-L who buys a lot and shops around. He said $425 (all granite, delivered and spread) was a good price for around here. He paid $500 recently. I think I paid $350 about six years ago. He said crushed concrete was a lot less but he has had mixed results with that. He says sometimes it is mostly dust. At other times there has been lots of rebar and metal in what he has bought. He does not buy it anymore.

Prices are up for gravel in East Texas because the state is buying like crazy, and they have a specific requirement for the gravel they buy that costs more to create. The quarry is only doing State approved gravel, which means everyone else has to pay the higher rate. I'm just buying enough for potholes with the hope the prices will drop once the quarry goes back to making just regular road base.
