My buddy is telling me that his less than 1 year old CT225 doesn't push snow anymore than 8 or 10 feet then just stops dead in its tracks. He's got about 300 feet of driveway that took him over 5 hours to clear. That just ain't right. I told him that he's prolly got his bucket down too low and he's catching ground. Does this tractor have a float mechanism on it? He says no. I can't believe that his tractor won't push snow. My BX25 is half his size, and I plow parking lots, and driveways, no problem!

Is it a hydro or gear?
Yes the loader does have a float.

Wait let me back up Bobcat didn't have the gear model.
Okay so ask him what range he has the trans in and also what Rpm is he running?

my drive is about 3-400 ft long, i pushed snow this weekend no problem with my 225, had the bucket on float in low range with the front assist engaged. no issues, probably running about 1800 rpms

Maybe try changing the air filters. Could be so clogged that the engine is not making power.

Just used my CT225 this morning (again) to plow drifts that I've been driving through for a week. With the loader in float, mid range, front wheels engaged, I can push 12" drifts a good two hundred feet. If it's heavy or really packed in on the drifts, I'll leave the bucket an inch or two off the ground to increase my front traction and just take another pass.

There are a few different ways this tractor will "stop" though, that might affect our armchair diagnosis :). Engine die? Transmission slip/stall? Tire spin? Throttle, low range and diff lock are potential "fixes" depending on the exact trouble.

I have been very happy with my 230 while pushing snow. I just put my loader in float and push away. You put it in float by pushing the loader joy stick all the way fw till it stops. It will stay in this position until it is pulled back.

The only thing that seems to stop me in low are my r4 tires. They seems to spin a lot in the snow.

I will say that in med or high if you are pushing too much snow, you will stall or at least mine does. But, it take a lot of snow to do that. By a lot of snow, I mean 3' or so.

I also have been happy with my CT230 while pushing snow. I have never stalled it. I have a 5' rear blade, and can run in high gear for a lot of it. Where the drifts are say over 8" or so, I need to run in Mid. I have R4 tires and they do pretty well.
I live about a mile and half either way on an east/west gravel road surrounded by open crop fields. There's been a lot of wind this year, thus snow drives over the road ranging any where from a few inches upto to 4-5' across the road. I have been able to tackle all of it with the CT230. Without it, I'd have been snowed in on several occasions.
