Cub Cadet 1046 stops running after a few minutes

My 1046 Cub Cadet is 3 yrs old with the Kohler 22 horse twin engine. It runs fine for a few minutes then it sputters and dies. After it cools down it starts and runs a few more minutes. I have replaced the air filter and fuel filter. Oil level is fine and I cleaned out the grass off the deck and cleaned the motor but without taking off the shroud around the motor. It has fresh gas. When it does run it runs fine. Grass is growing fast so any help is appreciated.

Ty removing air cleaner and spray starting fluid into intake when it starts to die. If it speeds up you know it's a fuel delivery problem. If not it could be an ignition problem. If fuel, try loosening the gas cap to see if the vent is plugged and causing a vacuum to build up. Also remove fuel hose from carburetor to see if fuel is coming from tank. If not it could be bad fuel hose or debris in tank. If it has a fuel pump it could be bad. If gas is getting to carb it could be a stuck or clogged float valve in carburetor.

It may also be the coil. Start it and when it dies check the coil and see if its hot. It should be warm but not hot.

Take the cooling shroud off the motor. Clean the crap off the fins. From now on, use compressed air or leaf blower to clean tractor after each use. lose garden hose/power washer. Good luck.

It's been a week. Have you tried any of the tips given? Any more info?

please do not use "either" (if that is the starter fluid you are referring to) if you need to use starter fluid (beside gas) use wd40 prob the only thing wd40 is good for...lol attending a old lawnboy service school the service manager mentioned that wd40 was a great starter fluid for gas engine "either" is great for diesel but builds up to much comp for a gas engine
