Cub Cadet 1238 with Briggs and Stratton 12HP

i replaced the starter ...but forget where the red wire and black wire attach from the starter to the mower..does the red go to the selinoid?..if so where does the black attach??..thanks

Not sure about that particular model, buy standard convention in DC electrical systems is red to be hot (the solenoid in this case) and black should go to ground (the chassis). Was there a screw that you took off the frame somewhere near there? If I remember correctly on my old 1450 it ran down to the frame. Hope this helps.
