Gentlemen - I just inherited an old good shape 1641. The only problem is that it has been sitting for a while under cover and I would like to bring it about 1/4 mile from where it is located to my pole barn. It is a hydrostatic drive and I want to get it to my house to bring it back to life. My question; Can I tow this lawn tractor without damaging the drive? The manual has nothing to say about towing...? Thanks for any help, Much appreciated!

I have a 1641, great little machine. you can pull the little lever between the seat and dash on the center cover and slide back to lock it up and that is supposed to disengage the hydro. i would not tow it that far though. maybe you could tie the rear up to a hitch so that the tires are not on the ground and use the fronts? or a small trailer.
