I have a cub cadet tractor 2130 which will not start. It will turn over but not start up. I have changed the air and gas filters and replaced the spark plug and still no luck. Is there a fuel pump on the tractor? I will go and see if any mice are building nests but it was working fine 2 weeks ago. Any help would be greatly appreciate. Thank you

also ck seat switch, cl/brake pedal switch - make sure mower pto is disengaged.
Dear RCBE.. how do I check the clutch/brake pedal switch? where is it? I checked the seat connection under seat and that seemed to be ok. Is there a fuel pump on this tractor. As you can tell I do not know too much about the tractor. thanks for your help. David
If the engine is turning over the safety switches wouldn`t be the problem. Itwould be fuel or ignition. IS THE BATTERY FULLY CHARGED? ---Is my caps locked?-- There is a fuel pump. Remove the fuel hose at the carb and try to start, you should have a good stream.

Dear Pony keg thanks for the advice I will give it a try. Battery is charged and the engine is turning over. Where would the fuel pump be on my 12.5hp 2130 cub cadet? Money tight so if I can do it myself I would like to try.

remove engine air cleaner. with help of an assistant, crank engine while spraying rattlecan carb cleaner down carb throat. If engine catches and tries to start, you have a fuel delivery prob. If nothing, remove spark plug wire - ground plug threads to engine casting (bare metal) - crank engine- look for bright blue spark.
fuel delivery prob - trace fuel line from tank bottom to carb. if gravity feed, simply remove hose st carb, catching fuel in container. look for good flow. If fuel pump involved, do same except crank engine to observe good fuel flow from pump.
If all OK there, remove carb bowl - give it a thorough cleaning. spray rattlecan carb cleaner into all passageways, stick small dia tag wire thru hole, blow out with compressed air. use magnifier to closely inspect. also check fuel inlet valve and afterfire solenoid function if equipped.
post back with result/comments.

Dear rcbe.. 1) removed gas line from carb and It had adequate gas flow. I think it is gravity feed. 2)Removed air filter (did not have carb cleaner stores closed) but sprayed with engine start up fluid (ether I think) into intake area and the motor started up for a brief moment and died.
This is all I could do. Not sure where carb bowl is. Is it attached to the fuel line ie at the end of fuel line. There are four small screws attached to this metal box shaped at end of fuel line. If this is the carb bowl I will remove the screws and buy the rattle can carb cleaner and do what you suggest in your post. Will I hurt the carb, is it delicate, do I have to be careful not lose a piece ofthe carb. I will try to find the owners manual on line and find the carb.
Also I took off the cowling to inspect inside wires. Noticed a wire had its insulation gone . The wire came from an area and was attached to something where the spark plug wire originated from. I wrapped the wire in electrical tape . Don't know if this was enough or may cause the none starting. Been a long day. Thanks for all your help David

But, closely check the engine for either stamped or printed model number, type number, etc. Record those numbers.
Also, look in the cavity under your tilting seat for a plate/decal with the full model number and serial number for your tractor.
Next, go to the website (paste into your web browser), enter model and serial number info - see if you can download an owners manual and possibly a service manual for that particular machine.
Also google the correct engine mfgr's name to get to their website - they often offer a goodly amount of data including how to take apart and re-assemble the carb. You should also get diagrams, etc there that will help you to identify what is where on engine.
If you do decide to proceed, figure on getting a rebuild kit for that particular carb along with a cuppla cans of good rattlecan carb cleaner.... also some very thin, stiff tag wire and a good magnifier. Some of those passageways in a carb are extremely small (easy to get plugged with trash). Have compressed air available to blow out carb parts as you proceed. Replace (do not re-use) any gaskets in carb (available in carb rebuild kit).
TAKE PIX AS YOU PROCEED and lay out your parts in order so as to get them all put back in in the right order. WORK CLEAN.
Gotta be able to eat dinner off any place inside that carb.

Dear rcbe.. I think I will send machine out to service tech. Fooled with a carb. and the results were poor and cost me more money than if I had sent it out to the tech in the first place. I appreciate you taking the time to help me with this problem. As clint eastwood said "a man has got to know his limitations". Again thanks for all your help. David L
