My first post, so pardon my ignorance if this has been answered before. The bearing(s) on the PTO clutch failed requiring a replacement. I got the belt off and center bolt removed but I can't get the clutch off the crankshaft. Everything I read just says "pull the old clutch off," clean the crankshaft, align and slide on the new one. Sprayed with Liquid Wrench, waited, still can't get it off. Is there something else to remove? Can I pry it without damaging the crankshaft? Am I missing something? Thanks.

Thank you. After waiting a bit longer and applying whatever brute force I could muster it began to loosen. A couple hammer taps and more brute force did the trick. Mission accomplished.

good to hear. When you re-install, 1) put Neverseize on the shaft first; 2) use a torque wrench to get that capscrew tightened to correct torque. Last thing you want is that spinning loose while running.

I did the anti-seize as you indicate, but couldn't figure out how to get the torque set--the crank turns. Any suggestions on how to stop?

one trick is using a piece of 1/4 or 3/8 dia rope mebbe 4 ft long... remove spark plug(s) - by hand, turn crankshaft until you know piston is starting to travel up on beginning compression stroke (may have to remove one valve rocker arm cover to observe both valves closed, won't get damaged) - manually with the help of a small rod, feed length of rope into cyl until full of rope (Leave one end of rope sticking out !!!) - continue tightening down on PTO retaining capscrew until rope is fully compressed; then until capscrew is correctly torqued per torque wrench. Pull rope back out of cylinder - before re-installing plugs, crank engine with starter to blow out any trash. Finish re-assy & test.
