Hi Folks, been a member for a few years, former WH-D180 owner, now a CC 3184 owner. Bit of background, bought this a couple of months ago, 185 hrs on the clock ( no way to verify ) been used on the hard side, numerous scratches, dings etc running gear seems solid. Also came with an extra pair of liquid filled 24x1050x 12 inch tires. Put an electric fuel pump to replace the mechanical unit which was not a good setup IMO. I sold the mower and bought for the same money the original mounting bracket, hitch, and CC plow with cylinder & hoses. I used the old lines from the mower deck since mine only came with the one set of hydraulics however I had to extend the existing lines with custom made lines which set me back $ 100.00. I hooked up the headlights which were disconnected
and added a set of rear lights to replace the stupid set of cheap reflective tape. I put in a toggle switch to control both sets.

Finally the question : I mounted the larger tires today with the intention of putting chains on later for the Ne Pa. pocono winters and found I wasn't comfortable with the very limited clearance between the tire and the plastic gas tank which is not only to the side but above the tire as well. The tires probably weigh 60 lbs give or take a piece. I can add another 80 lbs. on a homemade bracket I made to haul a log splitter but it would be about a foot and a half in back of the rear wheels. There's no way I'll mount chains on those tires with a plastic gas tank and that limited clearance. My only other choice is to put chains on the stock tires with much better clearance and hope the tank doesn't get slapped. What I'm looking for is personal experience/expertise in the snow plowing capabilities of this tractor. My old D-180 was an absolute beast plowing snow. I really don't expect it to perform like the horse but it seems like it could do a decent job ( its about as fast as the horse ) if its properly equipped. I have chains from an old Case 220 with the same size tires as the stock ones on the Cub. As I think about it chains on the stock wheels and wheel weights would be the best set up. What do you guys have and with what results ?
:)
