I am looking at a mid 90's model 7274 cub locally. It has an aftermarket SMC model 2408 FEL on it which looks like it has barely even been used. It also has a 72" belly mower on it.

It looks to be in very good condition at first blush, and has just under 200 hours on it. It also has turf tires, and a folding ROPS.

I have read about some issues with engine mount bolts loosening (which I will inspect carefully), and maybe some starter issues. Is there anything else I should be concerned with on this tractor?

Does anyone have any idea what this tractor might be worth?

Also, I am looking to use this on a newly purchased 8 acre property. I have 3+ acres of grass to mow, and also have to cut the pastures occasionally. I have about 800' of paved driveways to maintain (snow removal), and normal stuff to take care of when you have horses, etc. We will also eventually doing some landscaping with a small pond, some trees, etc.

Any input or thoughts are appreciated!

I have looked at new or newer JD, Kubota and NH tractors a bit, but don't really have the coin to buy something newer right now after buying the farm. However after spending 4+ hours on the lawn tractor to cut the grass a few times, I have about had it!

Thanks,
Steve

This was made for Cub by Mitsubishi for the 1997 model year only, sold for about $17k new, has 27 HP Mitsu diesel. Would likely sell in the $11-13k range used. I've never heard any bad horror stories about the Mitsu built Cubs, seem to be nice machines on the used market.

I have a 7275 which is a 1995 model with hydro. I've been under the impression that my loader was built by Woods. I bought a re-enforcement bracket available (from Woods and CubCadet) to reduce or eliminate the bolts from vibrating loose. It needed alteration with the 72" belly mower option. I've only used my mower a couple of times. It did a fantastic job and took it off one winter and never put it back on. I have lots of lawn tractors instead with lots of shrubs and trees with low branches.

We've had discussions about the starting issue which is an easy fix.

My fuel lines rubbed against one another and caused a leak about in the area where the FEL frame mounts at midpoint.

Mine is also equipped with Turfs which I really like. The lawn can be wet and still make nearly no impression and the front turfs are very, very wide compared to other brands and models which can support the weight of the FEL's capacity.

Mine has about 800 hrs on it. Love it!

As long as it's not a cub built by MTD you should be fine.

While not the 27 hp model, my 7194 (19hp)is basically the same unit, made by Mitsubishi between 95-97. I have the CC 416 FEL which has worked flawlessly for me for the last 450 hours I have owned it. I believe the $11-13K may be dependant on the market you are in. I doubt if it would fetch that much here in AZ. I am going to be selling mine 4 $8k so I would guess the 7274 might be a couple grand more.

I have eard about the engine bolt issue. I get down there an torque them up about every 50 hours and have yet to find any of them come off spec. The only issue I have had with mine is with starting. I be darned if I can figure out what it is. It starts all the time but I have to talk real sweet to it, and when she fires up, it runs real well. I am very happy especially when I compared pricing on green, blue and orange for an addition $4-5K at the time I bought mine.

Stimpee, That sounds like a good tractor, depending on price. JD, Kubota, and NH seem to keep their value better but I don't think you could beat how well this will work for you. I have a 7234 that I use for many of the things you will want. Mine has an aftermartket Bush Hog that has worked fine but it isn't a quick change model. Fine, tough tractor. Let us know how it turns out.

Bumping this old thread since I have the same question. Think I found a deal on a 7274 for 6000.00. It's a 2001 model. What type of transmission is it? I like the shuttle shift in my yanmar but got spoiled to the three range hydro kubota I rented.

Then I could sell my yanmar, which is fine but a bit small.
