So I went to look at the left over 2008 EX2900 cub with 60" MMM that they had...the unit has like 3 hrs on it which they claim is from driving it outside to back inside.

I did notice today that the deck had been used (grass under it) and the belt on the deck was broken. I pointed this out and they said that customers have asked to "see how it cuts".

I got them down to the mid 13xxx. Seems like a good deal...tractor looks good other then the broken belt on the deck. Dealer claims it has never been titled and the odometer reads 3...I would get the full factory warranty.

Any thoughts????

Sounds liek a good for nice tractor that has broken belt on mower which will be replaced again through time.

Let us know what you do.

I tend to lean to the cautious side on these situations... It seems odd that they told you the 3 hours were just from taking the tractor inside and out and only when you found the grass and broken belt did they tell you that some customers "like to see how it cuts"... Sounds shady to me. The tractor might be fine, but I think the dealer is probably not the most honest. I'd also be concerned about how the belt was broke in the first place. How many people here have broken a mower belt within the first 3 hours of use? Someone did something out of the ordinary to break the belt. So, that begs the question, what else is potentially wrong with the tractor and what else has been mistreated without your knowing? With the full factory warranty, I'm sure anything that's broken will be replaced... but, you have to factor in the fact you'll have to go through the trouble of having the tractor fixed IF anything IS wrong with it.

I don't know... If the price is right, I say go for it. Just know what you're getting in to.

It would take A LOT for those belts to be broken. Sounds like the dealer sold it, customer didn't know how to use it; broke the belt and brought it back.

Not good on the salesman's part to tell you that the hours were from driving it back and forth; he must have done that for 5 years - everyday!

Good price, though for 13k

I bought a cub cadet ex 2900 a few years back from Midwest Recreational Clearinghouse. This is a site that deals with bank repo and total loss vehicles. The tractor i purchased from them was brand new from a Dealer who went under. I ended up buying the tractor for way less than i would have from a regular dealer and it was practically brand new. It did have a few dents and scratches but everything worked and i have had many hours on it without a problem. There website online is called crankyape.com and the people there are very helpful. They usually have tractors on auction and i just looked before posting and they have two cub cadet tractors for sale right now. One is the EX 2900 and the other is EX 3200. They are only at 5 grand right now too. At a price this low i might have to bid on another one or have my son buy it for his new pole shed he just put up.
