I have a CC 7254 I bought new in 2003 with the Kawasaki 711D gasoline engine. The engine is and always has been very difficult to start especially in winter. I AWALYS have to use full choke and full throttle even if warm. If cold start in summer, I have to crank it with the starter for about 30-45 seconds before it will finally chug to a start.
Takes about 10-15 seconds of cranking before it starts firing then I have to keep the starter engaged until it gets enough RPM to tun on its own. Good thing it is a heavy duty starter and doesn't get too hot.
In winter, I have to use starting fluid. Is there anything that can be done to make this beast start easier? I have check the magnetos and spark plugs and it does fire a good spark but I'm wondering if the problem is due to the fact it does use magnetos and if there is a way to boost the high volt spark.
Have tried different spark plugs but that didn't seem to help. Once started it runs great and strong. If it were not for the hard starting I would love this tractor as it do as much as my cousin's John Deere and I would not give up the hydrostatic tranny for a cheaper geared tractor.
Any ideas out there in tractor land?
