Cub Cadet has problem stalling

I have a 2002 Cub Cadet 2186 with a Briggs engine. About two months ago it started stalling after about 15 minutes of operation. The engine dies as if you just turned off the ignition. It restarts easily after everything cools. Any ideas on how to remedy this problem?

well, I did have a problem with my 2166 stalling, but my issue is probably not very closely related, but do a search for 2166, or posts by me, and there's a particular thread that gives some very good suggestions.

My problem was that the machine had sat in storage for 2-3 years, and the carb was totally gummed up. the first time I had it in, they said the inlet needles were sticking, the second time I took it in, they decided they should pull the entire carb, and thoroughly cleaned it, which to date, seems to have fixed the problem. Hopefully you can find out what it is and get 'er fixed. good luck!

My "94" 16hp Briggs V twin was having a similar problem, mine would happen after about an hour of cutting grass. As it starts to shut down, try pulling the choke. If this keeps the motor running, your carb is set to lean, and you need to richen your air fuel screw. I have mine set at 2 1/4 turns out, and it has been running great for two years.

I had an 1860 (18Hp Kohler Magnum) that had this problem. It was the ignition module. Next time it stalls, pull a plug wire and see if you have spark, if you have spark, see if it will fire back up immediately with starting fluid, if it does, it a fuel problem.

Use some caution with the starting fluid, but that's always been a good tool for me.
