Caught a stick in my drive belt and destroyred my transmission fan. Cheap part but can be a difficult replacement.
After 2 hours of &^%$# and *&^ #@^^!* I finally figured out what to do as I did not have any help which would probably have helped.
I searched online for an hour or so after several attempts and I just had to use my imagination.
The first thing I did was remove The battery and the battery box.
Chock the front wheels to keep it from rolling on you.
Lift the rear end and block it up enough to get the rear tire off. I came in from the left but either side may work.
Here is where the problem comes in. The pulley will free - spin on you when you try to remove the nut.
My drive belt was still on because I just replaced it (another nightmare but problem solved relatively easy)
Just in front of the pulley, use a short piece of bar or I used a long opened end wrench and came in under one side of the belt and over the other side and twisted the belt together as much as I could. You should be able to find a place to get the wrench or bar into a bind so you can have your hands free.
I used a 19mm opened end wrench to break the nut free then from then used a ratchet to spin it free from on top through the battery box.
I found it easier to do this with the tire off because it gave me more room to work although it is still tight inside.
I used a little anti-sieze when I put this back together because it is liable to happen again at some point and time. I also use anti-sieze on ANYTHING that I take apart that I may have to take apart again in the future.
Installation of the fan is pretty straight forward just be careful when untwisting the belt.
I hope someone finds this helpful.
