Cub Cadet purchase

Hi Guys;

I have a chance to buy a 1 year old Cub Cadet from a friend. All I know at this time is the tractor is 27 hp has 35 hours on it. It has a 54" mower deck with the triple bagger system.

It cost $3000.00 and $500.00 for the bagger. My friend wants 2500.00 for it.

This seems to be a pretty good price??? Does anybody know if there were any problems or issues with these tractors????

From your description, it's this machine: Lawn Tractors, Utility Tractors If you were ready to pull the trigger on a brand-new 1554, yeah, this would be an OK deal. I personally would have no use for a bagger and it's $500 price tag. If you read any of the countless 1K and 1500 series tractor threads, you see they are intended for mowing and LIGHT cart towing duties. Historically, they don't do well with hills. The transaxles are too light duty.

For that kind of price, I guarantee you'll be happier with an older vintage Cub Cadet for less money. Today's Cub Cadets are worth squat- they'll break much sooner than a vintage one.

And $500 for a bagger? I've seen plenty of excellent vintage garden tractors go for that much.

If you really want something with a lot of power, quietness/smoothness, range, & versatility, check out a Simplicity Pow'r Max. You won't be disappointed. If you are absolutely intent on having a Cub Cadet machine, check out the Cub Cadet 7035. Now, that's getting your money's worth.

$2,500 for what your friend has, with all due respect is like paying $500 for a brand name pencil. I can understand trying to buy something from a friend, but think about what you can get for that same money.
