Just wondering who the engine manufacturer is for the 6.75 hp, 173 cc. 2006 engine? Briggs/Tecumseh?

MTD model is 12A-18MC596, engine serial is 1P70FUA0607112A0804

Is there some cross ref. material?

When I looked up the MTD model number the parts list says the engine part number is 952Z1P70FUA that a little searching found to be a Chinese made engine.

I think it's made by Kawasaki.....

I never was able to confirm any brand name for this engine. The repair forums that I did find any info on talked about it being a chinese clone of a name brand and that some parts interchanged. It was suprising to how little information there was available about it. The part number I posted is a MTD part number but if you search for 1P70FUA you'll find that it was used on several different brands of mowers and not one that I looked at stated the engine brand name.
