I have a large property and take care of the big stuff with a JD 4210 and use a garden tractor for around the house stuff. I had a 1993 cub 1864 until about 5 yrs ago at which time it needed what I considered to be a large investment to keep it going. Since I had the 4210 I decided to go cheap on the around the house machine and bought a 26hp, 54" DYS craftsman. I've regretted that step down ever since and now want to get a good garden tractor again. I'm considering the Cub GTX2100 or a JD x530. Both seem like great choices for what I need but the JD is almost $1500 more than the Cub. Any comments/advice on how these 2 rate against each other? Is the JD worth than much more money? I have a cub 2500 seris now and have owned a JD. The new cub has a better deck than mine and offers P. steering. That is good. With the exception of traction I prefered my John Deere. I never had to repair the JD until the tranny went out after 10+ years of hard use. I am always fixing something on the Cub. It was in for warranty work at least 3 times as well. They both had about the same quality of cut.
