Good evening,

Does anyone have experience with the 450 and 451 blower that could tell me why they wouldn't be interchangeable on a SGT (1872). I have a 450 I've used for five years or so and I bought a 451 at an auction in the spring. I mounted the 451 today on the 1872 and all appears normal.
The 450 is labeled as a SGT blower and the 451 is labeled as a GT blower, I think.

I used the 450 on a 1862 (GT) and later on a 1872 (SGT) without any noticable difference.

When I compared the 450 and 451 side by side, I could see no difference externally, maybe they are geared different?

The one I bought at auction (451) was like new and seem to work better in terms of amount of lift andthe tensioning mechanics.

Thanks,
Curt

I think that there was some difference in the linkages between the super chassis and the standard chassis. It would make a difference in the lowered position on the units.

I hope I responding to this properly. I have an attachement guide from 1995.

According the the guide the 190-450 and the 190-451 are not supposed the fit the same tractors.

The 1872 uses the 190-450 but in the ad is says 190-450 is for serial # 7000,000 to 821, 059 with adaptor 190-448

190-451 was for serial # 821,101 and higher with adaptor 190-529

There is also a chart which I cannot put up here that list the parts needed to mount the 450 and 451 to standard frame and super tractors serial # 756,300 and above

Thanks Art, Bob,

The 1862 needed an adapter on the lift cam, I think.
I may try the IH Registry and see if the 451 manual is there. I'm guessing the fact that is hooked right up and lifts with no problem, the worst case might just be a need for a different belt.

Here's a picture of the 450 mounted on the 1872 in action.

I have a 450 manual if that helps.

The 1872 attachments in the accessory list are split. There is a second section for serial # 821,101 and higher. They get the 451 with adaptor 190-529. I may be repeating myself.

OhioGuy: I have a 451 blower on a 2086 SGT. The same blower will fit GT's and SGT's but the SGT requires a bracket kit and a longer belt.

I have a 451 manual if that would be any help.

Thanks guys,

I downloaded the manual from IHregistry.
I'm assuming since the 451 had the adapter bracket installed, it should have the correct belt also. I'm going to try and find a part number on the belt tomorrow. Even if I can't verify the number, I'm going to just give it a go with the first snow because everything seems to be in order.

The IHregistry is a great rersource for Cub info, manuals and other Cub related stuff.
