checking the oil earlier this morning, i found it to be a little dirty and thought i'd put a change on it. i got started and find that i don't have a filter like i thought i did... i usually try to keep one ahead... anyway, its a 60 mile round trip to get one... i don't have time. i think i can remember when i was a kid, we didn't change filters EVERY time we changed oil, every other time... if i do that, what is the capacity for refilling it? i can't find it in my manuals anywhere...

i don't intend to do this often, but in a pinch, i didn't think it would be too bad to do...

thanks....

Capacity depends on if this is engine or hydro oil?

In my kawasaki they say 50 hrs change oil but not filter, similar for Kubota and many engines.

If its engine oil put in 1 quart and see where it lands on the dipstick, but most 24-26 HP two cylinder engines are around 2 quarts, so you should be OK at 1.5 quarts and checking again.

If its hydro oil, agan most with separate pumps and wheel motors hold about 2 quarts..

Search your HP and model on line - you should find it.

might make more sense to change the filters each time whilst skipping changing the oil ? Being able to see dirty oil on the dipstick is a dead giveaway that the current filter is saturated and passing contaminants....

I have a L60 commercial Tank.If you have a dipstick then our units are different, but yours should use Shell Rotella 15/40. I use a metal ruler to check my oil, 3.5in is full. change oil and filter after 1st 50 hr and 100hr on both there after. Mine takes about 2 qt but commercial pumps may need more oil capacity.
